Sensex tanks 1,045 points, Nifty settles below 15,400 points
The stock market on Thursday continued the losing streak for the fifth day in a row as the Sensex slid 1,045.6 points to 51,495.79 points while the Nifty shed 331.55 points to 15,360.6 points. The midcap indices traded in line with the broader market, as the Nifty shed 180.5 points to 7,196.15 points. Here are more details on the markets' performance on Thursday.
Who were the biggest winners and losers?
The top gaining stocks were Nestle, Britannia, and HUL, adding 0.43%, 0.15% and 0.01%, respectively. As far as the biggest sector losers are concerned, NIFTY METAL, NIFTY COMMODITIES, and NIFTY PSE emerged as the top losing sectors, falling 5.53%, 3.56%, and 3.46%, respectively. Tata Steel, Hindalco, and Coal India emerged as the most losing stocks, falling 6.03%, 5.99%, and 5.34%, respectively.
Crude oil prices decline by 1.67%
The gold futures prices surged by 0.39% to Rs. 50,635, while the silver futures settled flat at Rs. 60,814. Meanwhile, the crude oil future prices declined by $1.96, or 1.67% to $115.23/barrel.

As far as Asian markets are concerned, the Shanghai Composite Index plunged 0.61% to 3,285.38 points while the Hang Seng Index declined 2.17% to 20,845.43 points on Thursday. The Nikkei index, however, witnessed a rise of 0.4%, closing at 26,431.2 points. In the US market, NASDAQ traded in the green, advancing 270.8 points, or 2.5%, to 11,099.15 points.
Fuel prices in Delhi and Mumbai remain unchanged
The fuel prices in Delhi remain unchanged on Wednesday, with diesel priced at Rs. 89.66/liter and petrol costing Rs. 96.76/liter. Meanwhile, in Mumbai, diesel costs Rs. 97.26/liter and petrol is priced at Rs. 111.33/liter.
