Sensex closes at 54,892 points, Nifty barely holds 16,350 mark
On Wednesday, the Indian equity benchmarks extended their fall for the fourth straight session after RBI hiked its key lending rate. While Sensex settled at 54,892.49 points, the Nifty ended at 16,356.25. Meanwhile, the midcap stocks traded near the flat line with the Nifty Midcap 50 closing at 7,604.75 points. Who were the biggest gainers and losers?
As far as the top-performing sectors are concerned, NIFTY REALTY, NIFTY MEDIA, and NIFTY PSU BANK led the way, gaining 1.86%, 1.47%, and 0.7%, respectively. Meanwhile, Tata Steel, SBI, and Titan Company emerged as the biggest stock gainers, adding 1.66%, 1.64%, and 1.39%, respectively. Bharti Airtel, ITC, and Reliance lead the negative pack, plummeting 2.98%, 2.23%, and 1.83%, respectively.
INR down by 0.03% against the US Dollar
The Indian rupee (INR) slipped 0.03% to settle at Rs. 77.73 against the US Dollar in the forex trade on Wednesday. On the other hand, the gold futures witnessed little movement, ending flat at Rs. 50,959, while the silver futures tumbled 0.4% to Rs. 61,995. The crude oil futures edged up by $3.27 or 2.77% to $121.23 per barrel.

Coming to the Asian markets, both Shanghai Composite Index and Nikkei traded in the red, slipping to 3,263.79 points and 28,234.29 points, respectively. Meanwhile, Hang Seng jumped 2.24% to 22,014.59 points. In the US, NASDAQ witnessed a surge, edging 0.94% higher to 12,175.23 points.

The world's most popular cryptocurrency Bitcoin is trading at $30,483.02, which is 3.07% up from yesterday. Meanwhile, Ethereum is up by 2.52% and is currently trading at $1,808.23. Tether, BNB, and Cardano are trading at $0.9995 (0.02% up), $292.50 (3.78% up), and $0.639 (9.08% up), respectively. Finally, Dogecoin is listed at $0.08031, which is 0.6% higher compared to yesterday.
Fuel prices in Delhi and Mumbai remain unchanged
The fuel prices in Delhi remain unchanged on Wednesday, with diesel priced at Rs. 89.66/liter and petrol costing Rs. 96.76/liter. Meanwhile, in Mumbai, diesel costs Rs. 97.26/liter and petrol is priced at Rs. 111.33/liter.
