Sensex closes at 55,675 points, Nifty settles below 16,600
On Monday, the Indian equity benchmarks extended their fall for the second straight session. The Sensex settled at 55,675.32 points and the Nifty ended at 16,569.55 points. The broader market largely traded flat, but the midcap stocks witnessed a downward trend with the Nifty Midcap 50 shedding 35.9 points to end at 7,676. Who were the biggest winners and losers?
On Monday, NIFTY METAL, NIFTY PVT BANK, and NIFTY AUTO emerged as the top-performing sectors, rising 1.11%, 0.21%, and 0.19%, respectively. Meanwhile, the top stock gainers were Bajaj Auto, JSW Steel, and Cipla, which climbed 3.93%, 2.94%, and 1.57%, respectively. Shree Cements, BPCL, and Asian Paints emerged as the top losing stocks, falling 3.08%, 2.68%, and 2.41%, respectively.

The Asian markets on Monday ended in the green. The Shanghai Composite Index, the Hang Seng Index, and the Nikkei climbed 1.28%, 2.71%, and 0.56% to settle at 3,236.37 points, 21,653.9 points, and 27,915.89 points, respectively. As far as the US market is concerned, NASDAQ traded in the red, plunging 304.17 points, or 2.47%, to 12,012.73 points.
Crude oil futures up by 0.65%
The gold futures witnessed little movement, settling flat at Rs. 51,018, while the silver futures jumped 1.41% to Rs. 62,541. Coming to the crude oil futures, the prices soared 0.65% to settle at $119.73 per barrel.
How have the popular cryptocurrencies fared today?
The world's most popular cryptocurrency Bitcoin is trading at $31,434.37 which is 6.09% up from yesterday. Meanwhile, Ethereum is up by 7% and is currently trading at $1,905.68. Tether, BNB, and Cardano are listed at $0.9993 (flat), $310.55 (up by 4.54%), and $0.6373 (up by 14.33%), respectively. Finally, Dogecoin is trading at $0.08415, which is up 3.11% from yesterday.
Fuel prices in Delhi and Mumbai remain unchanged
The fuel prices in Delhi remain unchanged on Monday, with diesel priced at Rs. 89.66/liter, and petrol costing Rs. 96.76/liter. Meanwhile, in Mumbai, diesel costs Rs. 97.26/liter and petrol is priced at Rs. 111.33/liter.
