Sensex slips by 359 points, Nifty settles below 16,600
On Tuesday, the Indian equity benchmarks halted a three-day winning streak to settle lower. While the Sensex fell 359 points to settle at 55,566.41 points, the Nifty stood at 16,584.55. Who were the biggest gainers and losers?
Among the winning sectors in the stock market on Tuesday were NIFTY REALTY, NIFTY PSE, and NIFTY MEDIA, which rose 1.97%, 1.77%, and 1.52%, respectively. On the other hand, the biggest stock gainers were ONGC, M&M, and NTPC, which climbed 5%, 3.61%, and 3.38%, respectively. Among the biggest stock losers were Sun Pharma, Kotak Mahindra, and HDFC, which plunged 3.12%, 2.96%, and 2.56%, respectively.

As far as the Asian markets are concerned, Shanghai Composite Index soared 1.19% to 3,186.43 points, while Hang Seng rose 1.38% to 21,415.2 points. However, Nikkei ended in red, plunging 0.33% to 27,279.8 points. In the US, NASDAQ gained 3.33% to close at 12,131.13 points.
INR goes down 0.13% against the US Dollar
The Indian rupee (INR) slipped 0.13% to settle at Rs. 77.64 against the US Dollar in the forex trade on Tuesday. On the other hand, the gold futures witnessed little movement, ending flat at Rs. 51,000, while the silver futures tumbled 0.57% to Rs. 61,532. Coming to the crude oil futures, the prices soared 1.62% to settle at $118.84 per barrel.
Fuel prices in Delhi and Mumbai remain unchanged
The fuel prices in Delhi remain unchanged on Tuesday, with diesel priced at Rs. 89.66/liter, and petrol costing Rs. 96.76/liter. Meanwhile, in Mumbai, diesel costs Rs. 97.26/liter and petrol is priced at Rs. 111.33/liter.
