Sensex slips by 1,416 points, Nifty settles below 15,850
On Thursday, the Indian equity benchmarks extended their fall for the second straight session over fears of slower economic growth. The Sensex slid 1,416 points to 52,792, while the Nifty shed 430.9 points to 15,809. The midcap stocks also ended on a bearish note with the Nifty Midcap 50 plunging 3.03% to 7,422.75 points. Who were the biggest gainers and losers?
The top stock gainers were ITC, Dr. Reddys Labs, and Power Grid Corporation, which climbed 3.52%, 0.55%, and 0.31%, respectively. Among the top losing sectors were NIFTY IT, NIFTY METAL, and NIFTY MEDIA, which slipped 6.09%, 4.25%, and 3.89%, respectively. As far as the top stock losers are concerned, Wipro, HCL Tech, and Infosys lead the negative pack, plummeting 6.16%, 5.89%, and 5.42%, respectively.

Moving on to the Asian markets, the Hang Seng rose 2.54% to 20,120.68 points and the Nikkei index too edged up 1.89% to 26,402.84 points on Thursday. As far as the US market is concerned, NASDAQ witnessed a decline, edging 4.73% lower to 11,418.15 points.
INR declined by 0.19% against the US Dollar
On Thursday, the Indian rupee (INR) declined 0.19% against the US Dollar to end at Rs. 77.73 in the forex trade. On the other hand, the gold futures prices soared by Rs. 178 or 0.35% to Rs. 50,396, while the silver futures traded flat at Rs. 60,659. Also, the crude oil futures fell by $2.1, or 1.96% to $104.94 per barrel.
Fuel prices in Delhi and Mumbai remain unchanged
The fuel prices in Delhi remain unchanged on Thursday, with diesel priced at Rs. 96.71/liter and petrol costing Rs. 105.45/liter. Meanwhile, in Mumbai, diesel costs Rs. 104.75/liter and petrol is priced at Rs. 120.5/liter.
