Sensex closes at 54,088 points, Nifty settles below 16,200
On Wednesday, major indices of the stock market ended flat with the Sensex settling at 54,088.39 points and the Nifty closing at 16,167.1 points. On the other hand, the midcap stocks witnessed a downward trend with the Nifty Midcap 50 shedding 34.15 points to end at 7,499.5 points. Who were the biggest gainers and losers?
Among the top sector gainers in the market were NIFTY REALTY, NIFTY BANK, and NIFTY PVT BANK, gaining 0.72%, 0.61%, and 0.53%, respectively. Meanwhile, ONGC, Axis Bank, and IndusInd Bank emerged as the biggest stock gainers, adding 3.11%, 2.46%, and 1.66%, respectively. Shree Cements, Bajaj Finserv, and Larsen were among the top stock losers on Wednesday, shedding 3.3%, 2.2%, and 2.13%, respectively.

Moving on to Asian markets, the Shanghai Composite Index plummeted 0.75% to 3,058.7 points, while the Nikkei plunged 0.18% to 26,213.64. However, the Hang Seng Index climbed 0.97% to 19,824.57 points. In the US, NASDAQ ended on a positive note, surging 0.98%, to 11,737.67 points.
INR goes up by 0.12% against the US Dollar
The Indian rupee (INR) climbed 0.12% to end at Rs. 77.24 against the US Dollar in the forex trade on Wednesday. The gold futures prices largely traded flat, ending at Rs. 50,694. However, the silver futures went up by 0.96%, to Rs. 61,200. Meanwhile, the crude oil future prices surged by $2.6, or 2.59% to $102.99 per barrel.
Fuel prices in Delhi and Mumbai remain unchanged
The fuel prices in Delhi remained unchanged on Wednesday, with diesel priced at Rs. 96.71/liter, and petrol costing Rs. 105.45/liter. Meanwhile, in Mumbai, diesel costs Rs. 104.75/ liter and petrol is priced at Rs. 120.5/liter.
