Sensex slips 2.3% to 55,669 points, Nifty settles below 16,700
On Wednesday, the stock market closed in the hands of the bear, extending its losing streak for the third day. Sensex slipped 2.35% to 55,669.03 points while Nifty dropped 391.5 points to 16,677.6. Who were the biggest gainers and losers?
NIFTY PSE emerged as the top gaining sector of the market on Wednesday, edging up by 0.16%. On the other hand, the biggest stock gainers were ONGC, Britannia, and Power Grid Corporation, which climbed 3.42%, 3.38%, and 2.66%, respectively. Coming to the top losing stocks, Apollo Hospital, Adani Ports, and Hindalco emerged as the biggest losers, dropping 6.71%, 5.2%, and 4.9%, respectively.

Among the Asian markets, both the Hang Seng Index and Nikkei ended in the green, advancing to 20,869.52 points and 26,818.53 points, respectively. Meanwhile, in the US market, NASDAQ closed on a positive note, gaining 0.22% to 12,563.76 points.
INR goes up by 0.13% against the US Dollar
The Indian rupee (INR) appreciated by 0.13% to close at Rs. 76.41 against the US Dollar in the forex trade on Wednesday. Not much movement was witnessed in gold and silver futures prices as they were trading flat. While gold settled at Rs. 50,716, the price for silver ended at Rs. 62,323. Meanwhile, crude oil future prices surged by 2.94% to $106.23 per barrel.
Fuel prices in Delhi and Mumbai remain unchanged
The fuel prices in Delhi remain unchanged on Wednesday, with diesel priced at Rs. 96.71/liter and petrol costing Rs. 105.45/liter. Meanwhile, in Mumbai, diesel costs Rs. 104.75/liter and the petrol is priced at Rs. 120.5/liter.
