Sensex climbs to 57,911 points, Nifty settles near 17,400
On Thursday, the stock market had a bearish look but the benchmark Sensex and Nifty indices witnessed a surge. Sensex jumped 1.51% to 57,911.68 points while the Nifty climbed 1.47% to 17,392.6. Who were the biggest gainers and losers on Thursday?
Among the winning sectors on Thursday were Nifty AUTO, NIFTY FINANCIAL SERVICE, and NIFTY PVT BANK, which rose 2.18%, 1.52%, and 1.49%, respectively. The biggest stock gainers were Eicher Motors, Coal India, and M&M, which climbed 4.42%, 3.99%, and 3.08%, respectively. Meanwhile, Cipla, Hindalco, and Nestle were trading among the top stock losers on Wednesday, shedding 1.34%, 0.84%, and 0.71%, respectively.

The Asian markets witnessed a poor run on Thursday. While Shanghai Composite Index slipped to 3,079.81 points, Hang Seng plunged to 20,682.22 points, and Nikkei dropped to 27,553.06 points. In the US, NASDAQ witnessed a decline, edging 1.22% lower to 13,453.07 points.
INR climbs 0.06% against the US Dollar
The Indian rupee (INR) climbed 0.06% to end at Rs. 76.16 against the US Dollar in the forex trade on Thursday. The prices of both gold and silver futures witnessed a decline, with the former slipping 0.62% and the latter shedding 1.48% to settle at Rs. 52,300 and Rs. 67,391, respectively. Meanwhile, the crude oil futures ended flat at $103.15 per barrel.
Fuel prices in Delhi and Mumbai remain unchanged
The fuel prices in Delhi remain unchanged on Thursday, with diesel priced at Rs. 96.71/liter and petrol costing Rs. 105.45/liter. Meanwhile, in Mumbai, diesel costs Rs. 104.75/liter and petrol is priced at Rs. 120.5/liter.
