Sensex falls over 600 points, Nifty settles below 22,500 mark
On Thursday, the stock market witnessed a downward trend as the Sensex and Nifty indices closed on a negative note. While the Sensex lost 0.83% to settle at 73,885.60 points, the Nifty shed 0.95% to 22,488.65 points. Who were the biggest gainers and losers?
Among the top sector gainers in the stock market were NIFTY MEDIA, NIFTY PSE, and NIFTY MNC, gaining 1.23%, 1.09%, and 0.84%, respectively. ICICI Bank, Axis Bank, and HDFC Bank emerged as the top-performing stocks, edging up 1.06%, 0.71%, and 0.43%, respectively. Tata Steel, Tech Mahindra, and Power Grid Corporation of India emerged the biggest losers, dropping 5.8%, 3.54%, and 3.46%, respectively.

Among the Asian markets, the Hang Seng Index shed 246.82 points to 18,230.19 points while the Nikkei gained 502.74 points to 38,054.13 points. Meanwhile, in the US market, NASDAQ ended in the red, falling 0.58%, to 16,920.58 points.
INR goes up 0.05% against US dollar
The Indian rupee (INR) gained 0.05% against the US dollar to trade at ₹83.31 in forex trade. The prices of both gold and silver futures witnessed a decline, with the former slipping 0.57% and the latter shedding 2.05% to settle at ₹71,781 and ₹94,195, respectively. Meanwhile, the crude oil future prices declined by $0.52, or 0.65% to $78.99 per barrel.
Fuel prices in Delhi and Mumbai
Fuel prices in India remained unchanged on Thursday. In Delhi, diesel costs ₹87.66 per liter, while petrol is priced at ₹94.76 per liter. In Mumbai, diesel is available at ₹92.13 per liter and petrol at ₹104.19 per liter.
