Sensex slips over 520 points, Nifty ends above 19,120 mark
On Wednesday, the benchmark Sensex and Nifty indices were on a downward trend. While the Sensex plunged 0.81% to 64,049.06 points, the Nifty fell 0.83% to end at 19,122.15 points. The midcap indices were in a bearish mode as the Nifty Midcap 50 plunged 73.8 points, or 0.67%, to 11,066.55 points. Here are more details on the markets' performance on Wednesday.
Who were the biggest gainers and losers?
As far as the top-performing sectors of the market are concerned, NIFTY PSU BANK and NIFTY METAL led the way, gaining 0.17% and 0.15%, respectively. On the other hand, the top gaining stocks were Coal India, Tata Steel, and Hindalco, adding 1.29%, 1.04% and 0.92%, respectively. Infosys, Apollo Hospital, and Cipla emerged as the most losing stocks, falling 2.62%, 2.27%, and 2.25%, respectively.

In Asian markets, the Shanghai Composite Index plummeted 0.4% to 2,974.11 points, while the Nikkei plunged 0.66% to 31,269.92 points on Wednesday. Meanwhile, in the US market, NASDAQ ended on a strong, positive note, surging 121.55 points, or 0.93%, to 13,139.88 points.
INR rose 0.02% against the US Dollar
The Indian Rupee (INR) gained against the US Dollar, rising 0.02% to Rs. 83.18 in forex trade on Wednesday. On the other hand, the gold futures witnessed little movement, ending flat at Rs. 60,480, while the silver futures tumbled 0.55% to settle at Rs. 71,390. The crude oil futures ended flat at $83.9 per barrel.
Fuel prices remain unchanged
Fuel prices in Delhi remained unchanged on Wednesday, with diesel priced at Rs. 89.66/liter and petrol at Rs. 96.76/liter. Meanwhile, in Mumbai, diesel costs Rs. 94.25 per liter and petrol is priced at Rs. 106.29 per liter.

Bitcoin is currently trading at $34,087.45, which is down by 0.70% in the past 24 hours. Ethereum, the second most popular token is down by 2.61% and is trading at $1,777.59. BNB and Cardano are listed at $225.33 (2.02% down) and $0.2809 (1.18% down), respectively. Dogecoin is trading 2.58% lower than yesterday at $0.06565.
