Sensex climbs to 74,221 points, Nifty settles near 22,600 mark
On Wednesday, the benchmark Sensex and Nifty indices saw gains. While the Sensex rose 0.36% to 74,221.06 points, the Nifty jumped 0.3% to 22,597.8 points. The midcap indices largely reflected the broader market trend, trading near the flat line as the Nifty Midcap 50 wrapped up at 14,618.6 points. Who were the biggest winners and losers?
Among the top sector gainers in the stock market were NIFTY FMCG, NIFTY REALTY, and NIFTY ENERGY, gaining 1.41%, 1.39%, and 0.87%, respectively. Furthermore, Cipla, TATA Consumer Products, and HUL emerged as the top-performing stocks, edging up 2.79%, 2.51%, and 2.39%, respectively. Shriram Finance, SBI, and Apollo Hospitals emerged as the most losing stocks, falling 1.53%, 1.43%, and 1.32%, respectively.

Moving on to the Asian markets, the Hang Seng Index rose 0.13% to 19,195.6 points, and Nikkei edged up 0.85% to 38,617.1 points on Wednesday. Meanwhile, in the US market, NASDAQ ended on a strong, positive note, surging 37.75 points, or 0.22%, to 16,832.62 points.
INR goes up 0.05% against the US Dollar
The Indian Rupee (INR) on Wednesday strengthened 0.05% to settle at ₹83.28 against the US Dollar in the forex trade. Also, the gold futures prices largely traded flat, settling at ₹73,947, but the silver futures dropped ₹330, or 0.35%, to ₹94,395. The crude oil future prices declined by $0.79, or 1% to $78.07 per barrel.
Fuel prices in Delhi, Mumbai
Fuel prices in Delhi remained unchanged on Wednesday with diesel priced at ₹87.66/liter, and petrol at ₹94.76 per liter. Meanwhile, in Mumbai, diesel costs ₹92.13 per liter, and petrol is priced at ₹104.19/liter.
