Sensex tanks over 450 points, Nifty settles below 22,000 mark
On Thursday, the benchmark Sensex and Nifty indices witnessed a slump. While the Sensex slipped 454.69 points, or 0.63%, to 72,488.99 points, the Nifty shed 152.05 points, or 0.69%, to 21,995.85 points. The midcap stocks showed bearish signals, with the Nifty Midcap 50 dropping 0.57% to 13,687.05 points. Here's everything you need to know about Thursday's market report.
Who were the biggest gainers and losers?
Coming to the top-gaining sectors of the market, NIFTY MEDIA emerged as the highest gainer with a 0.76% rise. Bharti Airtel, Power Grid Corporation of India, and Bajaj Auto were the biggest stock gainers, adding 4.05%, 2.13%, and 1.15%, respectively. Apollo Hospital, Titan Company, and Nestle lead the negative pack, plummeting 4.11%, 3.31%, and 3.28%, respectively.

Moving on to Asian markets, the Shanghai Composite Index fell 0.09% to 3,074.22 points, while the Nikkei slid 0.31% to 38,079.7 points. However, the Hang Seng Index climbed 0.82% to 16,385.87 points. In the US market, NASDAQ edged 1.15% lower to 15,683.37 points.
INR witnessed no change against US dollar
The Indian rupee (INR) remained flat at ₹83.54 against the US dollar in the forex trade on Thursday. The gold and silver futures prices witnessed little movement, largely trading flat. While the gold futures settled at ₹72,575, the silver futures closed at ₹83,529. Meanwhile, the crude oil futures prices declined by $1.15, or 1.38% to $81.85 per barrel.
Fuel prices in Delhi and Mumbai
Fuel prices remained unchanged on Thursday. In Delhi, diesel and petrol costs ₹87.66 per liter and ₹94.76 per liter, respectively. In Mumbai, diesel and petrol are selling at ₹92.13 per liter and ₹104.19 per liter, respectively.

Bitcoin is trading at $61,607.81, which is 2.59% down from yesterday. Ethereum is down 2.30%, and is trading at $3,004.85. Tether, BNB, and Cardano are priced at $1.00 (0.03% down), $543.78 (0.24% down), and $0.4454 (2.56% down), respectively. Finally, Dogecoin is trading at $0.1448, down 8.01% from yesterday.
