Sensex gains over 250 points, Nifty ends above 22,460 mark
On Friday, the benchmark Sensex and Nifty indices showed an upward trend. The Sensex rose 0.34% to 73,917.03 points, while the Nifty gained 0.28% to end at 22,466.1 points. The broader market largely traded flat but the midcap stocks were in a bullish mode as the Nifty Midcap 50 gained 118.3 points to close at 14,515.2 points. Here's more on Friday's market report.
Who were the biggest gainers and losers?
As far as the top-performing sectors of the market are concerned, NIFTY AUTO, NIFTY REALTY, and NIFTY METAL led the way, gaining 1.71%, 1.64%, and 1.6%, respectively. The biggest stock gainers were M&M, Grasim, and JSW Steel, which climbed 5.77%, 2.52%, and 2.35%, respectively. Among the biggest stock losers were TCS, Cipla, and SBI Life Insurance, which plunged 1.66%, 1.59%, and 1.25%, respectively.

On Friday, the Asian markets traded in the red with the Shanghai Composite Index, the Hang Seng Index, and the Nikkei plunging 1%, 0.91%, and 0.34% to 3,154.03 points, 19,553.61 points, and 38,787.38 points, respectively. In the US market, NASDAQ dropped 0.26% to 16,698.32 points.
INR goes up 0.22% against US dollar
On Friday, the Indian rupee (INR) edged up 0.22% to ₹83.33 versus the US dollar in the forex trade. The gold futures prices largely traded flat, ending at ₹72,900. However, the silver futures increased 0.27% to ₹87,535. Meanwhile, the crude oil futures ended flat at $79.3 per barrel.
Fuel prices in Delhi and Mumbai
Fuel prices in India remained stable on Friday. In Delhi, diesel costs ₹87.62 per liter, while petrol is priced at ₹94.72 per liter. In Mumbai, diesel is available at ₹92.15 per liter and petrol at ₹104.21 per liter.
