Sensex tanks 845 points, Nifty settles below 22,275 mark
On Monday, the benchmark Sensex and Nifty indices witnessed a slump. While the Sensex slipped 845.12 points, or 1.14%, to 73,399.78 points, the Nifty shed 246.9 points, or 1.10%, to 22,272.5 points. The midcap stocks witnessed a bearish run, with the Nifty Midcap 50 shedding 207.8 points to end at 13,841.3 points. Here's everything you need to know about Monday's market report.
Who were the biggest winners and losers?
Among the top losing sectors were NIFTY MEDIA, NIFTY PSU BANK, and NIFTY FIN SERVICE, which slipped 2.28%, 2.02%, and 1.78%, respectively. Shriram Finance, Wipro, and ICICI Bank led the negative pack, plunging 2.79%, 2.51%, and 2.41%, respectively. ONGC, Hindalco, and Maruti Suzuki emerged as the biggest stock gainers, adding 5.8%, 2.33%, and 1.5%, respectively.

Moving on to the Asian markets, the Hang Seng Index rose 0.73% to 16,600.46 points and the Nikkei index too edged up 0.74% to 39,232.8 points. In the US market, NASDAQ witnessed a decline, edging 1.65% lower to 16,171.4 points.
INR goes down 0.02% against US dollar
On Monday, the Indian rupee (INR) weakened against the US dollar in the forex trade, plunging 0.02% to settle at ₹83.45. Gold future prices were flat at ₹71,840, while the silver prices climbed 0.71% to ₹83,404. Crude oil futures slipped 1.39% to $84.93 per barrel.
Fuel prices in Delhi and Mumbai
Fuel prices remained unchanged on Monday. In Delhi, diesel is priced at ₹87.66 per liter and petrol at ₹94.76 per liter. In Mumbai, diesel and petrol are selling at ₹92.13 per liter and ₹104.19 per liter, respectively.

Bitcoin is trading at $66,604.93 which is 3.70% up from yesterday. Meanwhile, Ethereum is up 7.01% and is selling at $3,257.70. Tether, BNB, and Cardano are listed at $1.00 (0.06% up), $583.07 (4.89% up), and $0.4904 (4.72% up), respectively. Finally, Dogecoin is trading 6.49% higher than yesterday at $0.1654.
