Sensex climbs 567 points, Nifty settles near 19,690 mark
What's the story
On Tuesday, the stock market had a bearish opening but the benchmark Sensex and Nifty indices witnessed a surge.
The Sensex jumped 0.87% to 66,079.36 points while the Nifty climbed 0.9% to 19,689.85 points.
The midcap indices showed positive signals with the Nifty Midcap 50 gaining 152.8 points, or 1.32%, to close at 11,568.45 points.

Who were the biggest gainers and losers?
Among the top sector gainers in the stock market were NIFTY REALTY, NIFTY PSU BANK, and NIFTY METAL, gaining 3.85%, 2.04%, and 2%, respectively.
Meanwhile, the top stock gainers were Coal India, Adani Ports, and Bharti Airtel, which climbed 5.25%, 3.47%, and 2.63%, respectively.
The biggest stock losers were IndusInd Bank, Cipla, and TCS, which plunged 0.58%, 0.32%, and 0.23%, respectively.

In the Asian markets, the Hang Seng Index rose 0.83% to 17,664.73 points and the Nikkei index edged up 2.37% to 31,746.53 points. However, the Shanghai Composite Index plunged 0.7% to 3,075.24 points. In the US, NASDAQ gained 52.9 points, or 0.39%, to 13,484.24 points.

INR goes up 0.04% against the US DollarĀ
The Indian Rupee (INR) strengthened 0.04% to settle at Rs. 83.25 against the US Dollar in the forex trade.
Meanwhile, not much movement was witnessed in the gold and silver futures prices. While the gold price settled at Rs. 57,613, the price of silver ended at Rs. 68,920.
The crude oil futures were trading flat to settle at $86.27 per barrel.

Fuel prices in Delhi remained unchanged on Tuesday, with diesel priced at Rs. 89.66/liter, and petrol at Rs. 96.76/liter. Meanwhile, in Mumbai, diesel costs Rs. 94.25 per liter, and petrol is priced at Rs. 106.29 per liter.
