Sensex plummets over 1,060 points, Nifty settles below 21,960 mark
On Thursday, the stock market closed on a bearish note as the Sensex slid 1,062.22 points to 72,404.17 points while the Nifty shed 345 points to 21,957.5 points. The broader market largely traded flat but the midcap stocks were in a bearish mode as the Nifty Midcap 50 dropped 254.75 points to 13,755.65 points. Who were the biggest gainers and losers?
NIFTY AUTO topped the list of the biggest gaining sectors after witnessing a rise of 0.77%. The top-gaining stocks were Hero Motocorp, Tata Motors, and M&M, adding 3.17%, 1.86%, and 1.48%, respectively. As far as the top stock losers are concerned, Larsen, BPCL, and Asian Paints lead the negative pack, falling 5.68%, 4.72%, and 4.67%, respectively.

The Asian markets traded in the red with the Shanghai Composite Index, the Hang Seng Index, and the Nikkei declining 0.82%, 1.21%, and 0.34% to 3,154.32 points, 18,537.81 points, and 38,073.98 points, respectively. In the US market, NASDAQ dropped 0.18%, to 16,302.76 points.
INR goes up 0.01% against US dollar
The Indian rupee (INR) edged up 0.01% to ₹83.51 versus the US dollar in the forex trade. The gold futures witnessed little movement, settling flat at ₹71,015, while the silver futures jumped 0.49% to ₹83,398. On the other hand, the crude oil futures gained $0.68, or 0.87% to $79.56 per barrel.
Fuel prices in Delhi and Mumbai
On Thursday, fuel prices held steady. In Delhi, diesel is priced at ₹87.66 per liter and petrol at ₹94.76 per liter. Meanwhile, in Mumbai, diesel and petrol are priced at ₹92.13 per liter and ₹104.19 per liter, respectively.
