Sensex gains 900 points, Nifty ends around 17,600 mark
The stock market on Friday closed in the hands of bull as the Sensex rose 1.5% to 59,808.97 points while the Nifty climbed 1.55% to 17,594.35 points. Also, the midcap indices showed positive signals with the Nifty Midcap 50 gaining 74.75 points, or 0.87%, to close at 8,623.75 points. Here are more details on the market's performance on Friday.
Who were the biggest winners and losers?
The top sector gainers were NIFTY PSU BANK, NIFTY METAL and NIFTY BANK, edging up 5.12%, 3.43%, and 2.09%, respectively. Adani Enterprises, Adani Ports, and SBI emerged as the top-performing stocks, edging up 16.66%, 9.58% and 5.09%, respectively. Tech Mahindra, UltraTech Cement, and Cipla lead the negative pack, plummeting 2.24%, 0.96%, and 0.86%, respectively.
INR goes up by 0.77% against the US Dollar
The Indian Rupee (INR) appreciated by 0.77% to close at Rs. 81.96 against the US Dollar in the forex trade on Friday. The gold futures prices largely traded flat, ending at Rs. 55,820. However, the silver futures soared Rs. 407, or 0.64%, to Rs. 64,441. The crude oil future prices declined by $0.34, or 0.43% to $78.2 per barrel.

In Asia, Shanghai Composite Index and Nikkei on Friday traded in the red, slipping to 3,328.39 points and 27,927.47 points, respectively. Meanwhile, the Hang Seng Index jumped 0.67% to 20,567.54 points. In the US, NASDAQ closed on a positive note, gaining 0.73% to 11,462.98 points.

Bitcoin is trading at $22,391.54, which is 4.38% down from yesterday. Ethereum is currently trading at $1,567.90, down 4.54%. Tether, BNB, and Cardano are priced at $1.00 (flat), $290.98 (2.48% down), and $0.338 (4.24% down), respectively. Dogecoin is trading 6.09% lower than yesterday at $0.07581.
Fuel prices in Delhi and Mumbai remain the same
The fuel prices remain unchanged on Friday. In Delhi, diesel is retailing at Rs. 89.66 per liter and petrol continues to sell at Rs. 96.76 per liter. In Mumbai, diesel costs Rs. 94.25 per liter and petrol is priced at Rs. 106.29 per liter.
