Sensex slips to 57,684.82 points, Nifty settles below 17,250 mark
The stock market closed on a flat note on Wednesday with the Sensex settling at 57,684.82 points and Nifty ending at 17,245.65 points. The broader market indices were flat, but the midcap stocks showed bullish signals as the Nifty Midcap 50 soared 41.65 points or 0.52%, to 8,027.55 points. Who were the biggest gainers and losers on Wednesday?
The top sector gainers were NIFTY METAL, NIFTY ENERGY, and NIFTY COMMODITIES, gaining 1.19%, 0.82%, and 0.74%, respectively. Furthermore, Hindalco, Dr. Reddys Labs, and Divis Labs emerged as the top performing stocks, edging up 2.53%, 2.41%, and 2.36%, respectively. As far as the top stock losers are concerned, HDFC, Kotak Mahindra and Bharti Airtel lead the negative pack, shedding 2.35%, 2.11% and 1.99%, respectively.

Coming to the Asian markets, both Shanghai Composite Index and Nikkei on Wednesday traded in red, slipping to 3,271.03 points and 28,040.16 points, respectively. Meanwhile, the Hang Seng Index jumped 1.21% to 22,154.08 points.
INR slips 0.16% against the US Dollar
On Wednesday, the Indian rupee (INR) declined 0.16% against the US Dollar to end at Rs. 76.3. The gold and silver futures prices traded in the green. While the gold futures gained 0.46% to settle at Rs. 51,615, silver futures increased by 0.7% to Rs. 68,165. On the other hand, the crude oil futures shot up by $1.27 to $111.48 per barrel.
Fuel prices in Delhi, Mumbai see an uptick
In Delhi, fuel prices witnessed yet another hike on Wednesday. The diesel price rose 0.9% to Rs. 88.31/liter and the petrol rate soared 0.82% to Rs. 97.05/liter. In Mumbai, the diesel rate climbed to Rs. 95.83/liter and petrol rose to Rs. 111.65/liter.
