2018 Royal Enfield Himalayan ABS bookings now open in India
After first introducing Anti-lock Brakes (ABS) on its Classic 350 Signals Edition, Royal Enfield has now offered the much-anticipated safety feature on its Himalayan motorcycle. And, now Royal Enfield dealers across India are accepting bookings for the Himalayan ABS variant which will come at a tentative price of Rs. 1.79 lakh. Here's more about it.
2018 Himalayan ABS: At a glance
This variant will retain the styling of the 2017's Himalayan model with the same black, white and camouflage color options. Up front, the motorcycle sports round headlamp with muted chrome casing, a metal guard on the oil cooler and matte black coating on the fuel tank cap. Further, the luggage mounts are situated below the seats while the wheel rims get a black finish.
Under the hood
The Royal Enfield Himalayan variant is powered by the 411cc long-stroke, air-cooled engine that, paired to a 5-speed transmission, churns out 24bhp at 6,500rpm and 32Nm of peak torque at 4,250rpm. Notably, in 2017, the Chennai-based company updated its Himalayan tourer to replace the carburetor with a new fuel-injection system and thus comply with the BS-IV norms.
On the road
For handling and suspension, the bike comes with telescopic front forks and a mono-shock suspension at the rear. For braking, the Himalayan is equipped with ByBre-sourced disc brakes both at the front and at the rear. And finally, for improved road safety, Royal Enfield has employed a dual-channel Anti-brake Lock System (ABS).
Deliveries of Himalayan ABS to start next month
While Royal Enfield dealers have started accepting bookings for the Himalayan ABS, CarAndBike reports that deliveries for the motorcycle will start around the first or second week of September 2018.
