Jio GigaFiber: Here's how you can get a new connection
Jio'>Reliance Jio is gearing up to commercially launch Jio GigaFiber, its fiber-to-the-home broadband service, on September 5. The service promises to offer upto 1Gbps speed along with Jio HomeTV and unlimited free calling to any network in India. Initially, the company is aiming to cover as many as 3.5 crore residences and businesses across 1,600 towns. Here's how you can register for the connection.
Question No. 1: How to get a Jio GigaFiber connection?
The registrations for Jio GigaFiber are already underway and you can apply for a new connection from the official website by providing your credentials. Once the registration is complete and the location is verified by Jio, a company engineer will visit your house/society and install the service. Upon successful setup, Jio promises to activate your connection within two hours.
Question No. 2: What are the installation charges?
The end-to-end installation of a Jio GigaFiber connection is free during the initial roll-out of the service, according to Jio. This means you will not have to pay for anything related to the setting up of the connection except for the refundable security fee. The amount of security fee may differ according to the type of connection or plan you subscribe to.
Question No. 3: What exactly does Jio GigaFiber offer?
Jio GigaFiber will offer 100Mbps of speed with the entry-level plan of Rs. 700. The top-end plan with 1Gbps speed and access to Jio HomeTV as well as Jio's IoT products will cost Rs. 10,000/month. Subscribers will also get unlimited free voice calling benefits. Further, customers opting for Jio 'Forever Annual' plan will get an HD/4K LED TV and 4K set-top box for free.

Interestingly, Jio GigaFiber will also power Jio HomeTV, the company's home entertainment solution. The service will be available via a set-top box which is supported by Local Cable Operators. It will offer features such as video calling (via external camera), on-demand services, online gaming, and Mixed Reality (MR) experiences. However, the availability of services will depend on the plan you subscribe to.
