The US-based publication announced this distinction in its Central Banker Report Cards 2024. This rating is a significant achievement, as it highlights Das's effective leadership and policy decisions in managing India's economy.

Das among top three central bankers
Das shares his 'A+' rating with two other global central bank governors, Christian Kettel Thomsen from Denmark and Thomas Jordan from Switzerland. This elite group represents the highest achievers in areas such as inflation control, economic growth objectives, currency stability, and interest rate management. The grading system used by Global Finance magazine ranges from 'A' to 'F,' with 'A' indicating exceptional performance and 'F' denoting outright failure. USA's Jerome Powell earned an 'A-' rating.

The Central Banker Report Cards have been a yearly tradition of Global Finance magazine since 1994. The publication evaluates the performance of nearly 100 central bank governors from key countries, territories, and districts. This assessment also includes major entities like the European Union, Eastern Caribbean Central Bank, Bank of Central African States, and Central Bank of West African States.
Facts about Governor Das
Das, a retired IAS officer and former Secretary in the Department of Revenue and Department of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Finance, took charge as the 25th Governor of the RBI on December 12, 2018. His term was extended in 2021 for another three years. With 38 years of experience in governance, including direct involvement in preparing eight Union Budgets, Das holds a postgraduate degree from St. Stephen's College, Delhi University.
