Sony Pictures appoints Ravi Ahuja as CEO, succeeding Tony Vinciquerra
Ravi Ahuja, a seasoned Indian-American executive, is all set to become the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Sony Pictures Entertainment (SPE). He'll take on this role in January, succeeding Tony Vinciquerra. Currently, Ahuja is the Chairman of Global Television Studios and President and COO at SPE. He'll be reporting directly to Kenichiro Yoshida and Hiroki Totoki from Sony Group in Japan.

"Since joining SPE in 2021, Ravi has been at the center of Tony's leadership team, navigating the unprecedented challenges of today's media and entertainment environment and positioning SPE for further growth," Yoshida said in a statement. Before joining Sony, Ahuja held important roles at Fox Networks and Walt Disney Co., where he racked up a ton of experience in TV management.
Ahuja's role in producing award-winning series at Sony
During his time at Sony, Ahuja has been behind the scenes of some award-winning series like The Crown, The Boys, Gen V, Better Call Saul, and The Last of Us. These hits have really boosted his reputation as a leader in the entertainment world. His efforts have played a big part in strengthening SPE's standing in the global TV market.
Vinciquerra's legacy and future role at Sony Pictures Entertainment
Vinciquerra, who has been with Sony Pictures since June 2017, will continue his association with the company until December 2025 in an advisory capacity as non-executive Chairman. Under his leadership, Sony experienced five consecutive years of profit growth by enhancing its film portfolio. Vinciquerra also spearheaded the acquisition of anime studio Crunchyroll in 2021 and secured a streaming distribution agreement with Netflix.
Ahuja's extensive industry experience and educational background
Before hopping on board with SPE, Ahuja was the President of Business Operations and CFO at Walt Disney Television from 2019 to 2021. He kicked off his career in the industry back in 1997 as an associate at McKinsey. After that, he joined Virgin Entertainment Group, where he wore multiple hats, including that of CFO. Ahuja holds a bachelor's degree in finance and an MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
