Former Housing CEO Rahul Yadav joins Anuj Puri's ANAROCK

    What's the story

Former Housing CEO Rahul Yadav is now the Chief Product and Technology Officer at ANAROCK Property Consultants, the new venture of real estate industry stalwart Anuj Puri.

Yadav will be responsible for creating an online brokerage platform to drive up international investments.

ANAROCK is aiming to achieve a total portfolio value of $500mn for its fund business by 2020.

    Personal

A brief look at Yadav's history

Rahul Yadav, an IIT-Bombay dropout, co-founded Housing.com in 2012, when he was 24. In July 2015, he was removed as the CEO after a tumultuous relationship with other board members during which he even resigned for a day in between.

    Sector

Yadav's appointment expected to boost a largely-offline market

Under Yadav's leadership, Housing attracted investments from significant international firms including SoftBank.

ANAROCK Chairman Puri says Yadav, who is experienced in harnessing the consumer housing market through technology, will help ANAROCK "take the lead in boosting (the online real estate business in India) into maturity".

The real estate sector in India continues to remain largely offline, with low technological invention.

    Yadav

Not the first stint after Housing for the young entrepreneur

This isn't Yadav's first stint after Housing. In September 2016, he started a data analytics firm called Intelligence Interfaces.

Despite prominent investments, it didn't last beyond six months.

Yadav says the appointment at ANAROCK is "the logical next step in my career". "It is a complete privilege to work with an outstanding industry leader like Anuj Puri."
