Patanjali enters telecom sector with Swadeshi Samriddhi SIM card
Foraying into the telecom sector, Patanjali has announced the launch of Swadeshi Samriddhi SIM card in India. Launched in collaboration with state-run Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), the SIM card offers BSNL's Rs. 144 data pack to the users. This recharge plan includes unlimited calls across the country, 2GB of data, and 100 SMS for an unknown validity period.
Users will get health, accidental and life insurance
The Swadeshi Samriddhi SIM card will also provide users with additional benefits like medical and life insurance of Rs 2.5 lakh and Rs. 5 lakh, respectively. This can reportedly only be availed on road accidents. Currently, the SIM card is only available to Patanjali employees. Once it publicly rolls out, users will be able to avail a 10% discount on Patanjali products as well.
To activate SIM, users need to provide identity proof
Patanjali co-founder Baba Ramdev said, "There are 5 lakh counters of BSNL in the country and from there people can soon get Patanjali Swadeshi Samriddhi cards." BSNL's Chief General Manager Sunil Garg said, "Members of Patanjali have to just show their identity proof and their SIM will be activated soon after some paper work."
Patanjali's consumer goods business is registering profits
In a successful consumer goods business, Patanjali reported a 53.7% increase in its net profit at Rs. 1,193.8 crore for FY17, according to the filings with the Registrar of Companies (RoC) and data platform Tofler. Its revenue from operations increased by 87.2% to Rs. 9,122.2 crore and the company announced a 111% rise in its turnover to Rs. 10,561 crore.
