It's not new for top fashion brands to experiment with clothing designs inspired from different cultures. But sometimes they go a bit too far. The latest case in point is Zara, which is selling a lungi-like skirt for a whopping £69.99 or Rs. 6,296. Yes. That's right. Primarily worn by men in South India and other Asian countries to beat the tropical climate, lungis can easily be bought for £3 online and even for less in other markets. Zara currently has just one design, a brown-checkered skirt, pleated much like a lungi. It might find takers among the Indian diaspora worldwide, but to Indians in India, it's ridiculous and shockingly overpriced.
