Zara selling lungi-like skirt for Rs. 6,296 is laughingly ridiculous
What's the story
It's not new for top fashion brands to experiment with clothing designs inspired from different cultures. But sometimes they go a bit too far.
The latest case in point is Zara, which is selling a lungi-like skirt for a whopping £69.99 or Rs. 6,296. Yes. That's right.
Indians, needless to say, are finding Zara's pricing of the humble lungi horrifyingly extravagant.

You can easily buy lungis for £3 or less
Primarily worn by men in South India and other Asian countries to beat the tropical climate, lungis can easily be bought for £3 online and even for less in other markets.
Zara currently has just one design, a brown-checkered skirt, pleated much like a lungi. It might find takers among the Indian diaspora worldwide, but to Indians in India, it's ridiculous and shockingly overpriced.
