Maruti Suzuki launches new updated Ignis: Details here
Maruti Suzuki, India's leading automaker, has launched its famous budget hatchback Ignis in a new updated avatar. The new model from the company has been given some useful safety improvements as well as roof-rails on select variants. It will be priced at just Rs. 4.79 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) in the country. Here are the details.
Maruti upgrades safety features of Ignis
The 2019 avatar of Ignis solely focuses on the aspect of safety. It gets reverse parking sensors for easy parking in tight spots, co-driver seatbelt reminder, and a high-speed alert system. These options will come as standard across all variants and build on existing capabilities, which include dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, seat belt pre-tensioners with force limiters and ISOFIX child seat mounts.
No major changes in design
Visually, the car looks just like the current Ignis with no major exterior changes. The cabin looks pretty unchanged, but you do get the silver-colored roof rails on top variant Zeta and Alpha trims of the car. Even in terms of color, there are new no options and you get the same single and dual tone choices in blue, red, grey, silver, and white.
Also, same engine under the hood
Under the hood, Ignis continues with the same 1.2-liter K12 petrol engine that comes with the current model as well as WagonR, Swift, and Baleno. The motor is tuned to make 83bhp of power and 113Nm of peak torque and can be mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox or 5-speed automated manual transmission, which Maruti calls AGS or auto gear shift.
Pricing and availability
The new 2019 Ignis will start at Rs. 4.79 lakh and go up to Rs. 7.14 lakh for the top-end Alpha variant with AGS. Notably, AGS will be available as an option on all variants of the car, except the base Sigma model; it only comes with MT. There is no diesel variant of the car, either.
