WhatsApp users to soon receive show recommendations from Netflix!
Popular video-streaming service Netflix is reportedly joining hands with WhatsApp to send content recommendations to users on the Facebook-owned messaging platform. This means users on WhatsApp would receive messages from Netflix, keeping them updated about all the latest developments, services, shows, etc. on the streaming platform. Netflix to partner with WhatsApp on "enterprise level": Report
According to KillerFeatures' report, Netflix and WhatsApp are working on an "enterprise level partnership". Netflix plans to send content recommendation-related messages to WhatsApp users in order to get them to try its services in India. It would be very beneficial to Netflix, considering that WhatsApp has over 250 million users in India. WhatsApp and Netflix are yet to confirm the report.
Some users have started receiving Netflix recommendations
It looks like Netflix has already started recommending shows to some users on WhatsApp; some of them have shared the screenshots of Netflix's chats social networking sites. One Twitter user shared a screenshot of a Netflix chat window in which the streaming service had asked the user to add Netflix as a contact to keep him "in the loop."

Another user tweeted about the upcoming Netflix recommendation feature on WhatsApp and also posted screenshots. He received a message from Netflix that stated, "We can get in touch with you through WhatsApp." This text was then followed by another one that read, "As a registered WhatsApp member, you can receive account messages and suggestions on what to watch on your number."
Move would let Netflix grow India user base
According to reports, Netflix currently sends video content recommendations to its users via text messages. But opting for WhatsApp over regular SMS would obviously enable the video streaming platform to increase its user base in India.
Currently a one-way communication process
As of now, only Netflix can inform users about its shows, but users can't reply to its messages; basically, it is a one-way communication. One Twitter user who tried to reply to Netflix's message on WhatsApp received a text saying: "We love hearing from our members! Unfortunately, we can't chat right now, but we're always available for you in the Netflix Help Center."
WhatsApp partnered with other companies for business programs
Netflix is not the first company WhatsApp is joining hands with for developing its business in India. Recently, the Facebook-owned messaging platform has partnered with online ticketing platform BookMyShow for sending confirmation of tickets on WhatsApp. Also, WhatsApp earlier partnered with Ola and OYO Rooms.
WhatsApp users may soon watch YouTube videos on the app
Previous reports also claimed that WhatsApp is working on integrating a feature to watch YouTube videos right within its app and offer a seamless viewing experience to its users. Clicking on YouTube links on WhatsApp now redirects users to YouTube app or default browser. The rumored feature would let users watch videos without even leaving WhatsApp and also while navigating on the app.
