Indian electronics giant, Micromax Informatics, is entering the solar panel manufacturing business.
The company has announced a new initiative called Startup Energy, in partnership with China's solar equipment manufacturer Jinchen.
The partnership will produce cheap solar panels for residential, commercial, and industrial use.
As part of this expansion plan, Micromax has signed a strategic agreement with Jinchen to set up a 5GW advanced solar module manufacturing line.
