Maruti launches its first BS6 compliant vehicle, Baleno, in India
Maruti Suzuki India has launched its 2019 Baleno hatchback with a BS6 compliant engine, making it the automaker's first premium car to meet the new emission norms ahead of the upcoming April 2020 deadline. The mass-market vehicle comes with important updates including the latest Smart Hybrid (SHVS) system on its Delta and Zeta variants. Here's our roundup.
What's new in the update?
The 2019 Baleno gets a revised 1.2-litre DualJet Dual VVT engine with SHVS on its Delta and Zeta variants. This engine gets manual and CVT transmission options, both of which are BS6 compliant. With the new engine, the updated hatchback delivers an improved fuel efficiency of 23.87kmpl while also reducing emissions.
BS6 compliant vehicles will reduce Nitrogen Oxide emissions by 25%
According to the company, the BS6 compliant vehicles will contribute to the reduction of nearly 25% in Nitrogen Oxide (NOx) emissions. The latest emission norms also put a restriction on non-methane Hydrocarbons (NMHC) emissions and increase the durability of the exhaust after-treatment system.
And, further helps in reducing carbon dioxide emissions
The Smart Hybrid technology includes a Lithium-ion battery that assists the engine and helps in reducing carbon dioxide emissions. The new motor will deliver optimal acceleration without compromising on fuel efficiency. It will automatically stop when idle and silently start when optimal conditions will be met.
