Maruti recalls faulty units of Swift, Baleno: Is yours affected?
Maruti Suzuki has announced a recall of its Swift and Baleno cars manufactured between December 1, 2017 and March 16, 2018. According to the company, a total of 52,686 units manufactured between this period have been affected by a possible fault in the brake vacuum hose fitted on the hatchbacks. Here is more about the mass recall.
Maruti Suzuki to undertake service campaign to rectify fault
Maruti Suzuki will undertake a service campaign to inspect the affected Swift and Baleno cars. Starting May 14, 2018, the car manufacturer will contact owners of the 52,686 vehicles via their dealers for conducting an inspection of their cars. If the faulty part is found requiring fixing or replacement, it will be done free of cost.
Check if your car has been affected
Owners of Swift and Baleno cars can check if the mass recall affects their vehicle by visiting Maruti Suzuki's official website. To check, they just need to fill their car's chassis number (MBH followed by a 14-digit alpha-numeric number) into an online form. You can find the chassis number on the vehicle's ID plate and in its registration documents.
Not the first time Baleno has been recalled
In May 2016, Maruti Suzuki had recalled 75,419 units of Baleno as they were affected by an issue with the airbags. Of the 75,419 faulty units, 15,995 Baleno cars were diesel variants manufactured between August 3, 2015, and March 22, 2016.
