Man requests refund for Pixel 3, Google delivers 10 replacements
In a major case of customer service going haywire, Google has sent a man 10 replacement units of Pixel 3. He received a pack of Pixel 3s costing around $10,000 (Rs. 7 lakh in India) after requesting a refund for just one defective piece. Now, the involved party is getting in touch with the tech giant to get the issue sorted. Here's more.
Man returned defective white Pixel 3
In a recent post, Reddit user Cheetoz alleged he had returned a defective white Pixel 3 to claim a refund of $1000 from Google. However, instead of refunding the full purchase price of the device, the company sent him only $80, which is the sales tax value paid for the unit. This left nearly $900 hanging with Google and the owner frustrated.
Then, the company sent 10 units of Pixel 3
With Google owing money and having the device, the owner (Cheetoz) decided to place another order for Pixel 3 - the 'Not White' color variant. This time, the tech giant committed a major shipping blunder: it sent him 10 units of the device in question, costing as much as $10,000 (Rs. 7 lakh in India), instead of a single unit.
Now, the man wants to sort this with Google
Following this, Cheetoz reached out to Google through Reddit, saying he would return the 9 extra Pixel 3 devices, but not until he gets his money back ($900 of originally returned Pixel). "If I don't get the proper support here, I am going to attempt to return the extra 9 phones via $1000 COD," he wrote on the Reddit thread.
Google has not commented on the matter
While Google hasn't commented on the issue, a representative from the company did reach out to Cheetoz on his Reddit thread. The company has sought some details to resolve the matter, but as of now, it is not clear if the phones have been returned. "Google, I have your phones. You have my money. Let's sort this out," Cheetoz had written on the thread.
