Mahindra 7-seater SUV to launch on November 24
Codenamed Y400, Mahindra's upcoming full-size SUV will officially be called the Alturas G4 in India. This model is basically a rebranded version of the SsangYong G4 Rexton and is scheduled to launch in India on November 24. Notably, this Mahindra SUV was first showcased at the 2018 Auto Expo with a few cosmetic updates on the G4 Rexton. Here's our roundup.
Mahindra Alturas G4: At a glance
The upcoming Alturas G4 will be visually similar to the SsangYong G4 Rexton. However, the premium SUV will get a bunch of Mahindra-styled tweaks including a new front grille with a center-positioned brand insignia. Further, the Alturas G4 will also feature LED headlamps and taillights, larger alloy wheels, sunroof, and plenty of chrome accents to add some sportiness to an otherwise muscular built.
Inside the cabin
Inside the cabin, the Alturas G4 is likely to come with plush upholstery, possibly with leather finish on the dashboard and seats. Further, the SUV would come with dual-zone automatic climate control, ventilated seats, an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Bluetooth, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and other connectivity options. Notably, the SUV may come with nine airbags, ABS with EBD, and electronic parking brake.
Under the hood
The Alturas SUV will be offered in two variants - G2 and G4. The G2 will be a low-spec variant with 2 wheel drive (WD) while the top-end G4 model will get 4WD. Both variants will run on a 2.2-liter diesel engine that will generate 180.5bhp and 450Nm of torque. Notably, the Alturas will come with a Mercedes-sourced 7-speed automatic gearbox with manual shifting.
