Mahindra Group launches dedicated AI division to boost business operations
The Mahindra Group has established a dedicated artificial intelligence (AI) division, aimed at leveraging advanced technologies for the benefit of its various businesses. This information was disclosed by Bhuwan Lodha, the head of this new division. The initiative is designed to centralize all AI-related work within one department, in order to provide a unified approach across all business sectors within the group.
AI division's role and talent acquisition
The primary responsibility of the newly formed AI division is to ensure the success of Mahindra's businesses through effective use of AI. The division is currently in the process of recruiting experts in AI from within the group companies. Lodha, who previously served as the digital chief for Mahindra's flagship auto business, emphasized that over the past two years, AI has gained significant importance due to its potential applications across various industries.

The AI division is committed to developing appropriate AI solutions for all group companies, with potential applications spanning sectors such as auto, real estate, and hospitality. The division will also source the best global solutions, including those developed by start-ups or universities. When questioned about Tech Mahindra's role in this new venture, Lodha clarified that while they cannot hire as many domain specialists as Tech Mahindra has on board, they plan to collaborate with the group's IT services arm.
