Reliance Jio GigaFiber: Registrations, Plans, Installation and other details
After disrupting the telecom industry, Mukesh Ambani-led Reliance is primed to take on the broadband space in India. The company's Fiber-to-the-home broadband service, Jio GigaFiber, which has been in testing since 2016, will be rolled out in 1,100 Indian cities. The registrations are slated to start on August 15. Jio GigaFiber: Broadband plans
As of now, Jio has not officially announced any plans for its GigaFiber broadband service, but the service will be free for the first three months. Further, consumers opting for a connection will have to pay a refundable amount of Rs. 4,500 for the router.
Jio GigaFiber: How to register?
The registration for GigaFiber starts from August 15. Those interested can sign up for free via MyJio app or Jio.com. Notably, not everyone who registers will get a connection just yet, as the company will prioritize Jio GigaFiber roll out to those localities from where it receives the highest number of registration requests.
A leak claims to have revealed Jio GigaFiber plans
A leak by Trak has reportedly given away details of all GigaFiber plans. According to them, there's a Rs. 500 monthly plan which would offer 300GB data at 50Mbps download speed. Then, there's a Rs. 750 plan with 450GB of data at 50Mbps. Further, there are Rs. 999 and Rs. 1,299 plans which would offer 600GB and 750GB of data at 100Mbps.
Trak has allegedly leaked the top GigaFiber plan as well
According to Trak, the most expensive GigaFiber will start at Rs. 1,500 and would offer 900GB of monthly data at a download speed of 150Mbps. Notably, this and aforementioned other plans are not officially confirmed yet.
Jio GigaFiber: About the broadband service and installation
Jio's GigaFiber is claimed to offer up to 1Gbps download speed and 100Mbps upload speed. As stated earlier, set up cost involves a refundable fee of Rs. 4,500 wherein the company will install a Jio GigaRouter with a full fiber cable connection. However, it is not yet known how many devices can users connect to the network at the same time.
Jio GigaFiber will also power Jio Giga TV
Jio's broadband will also power Jio's TV set-top box, GigaTV and Jio Smart Home devices. The company is offering Jio GigaTV and a voice-activated remote along with GigaFiber connection. According to Jio, GigaTV is will offer "600+ TV channels, thousands of movies, millions of songs, and any other type of content possible." Moreover, users will have access to JioCinema, JioTVCall, JioCloud among others.
