Jio beats rivals, offers fastest 4G download speed in India
According to data released by Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), Reliance Jio has beaten its rival 4G telecom operators in India with an average download speed of 20.9Mbps on its network in February 2019. In terms of 4G upload speeds, Vodafone topped the list with an average peak speed of 6.0Mbps. Here's more on this development.
Jio offered twice the speed of Airtel to top charts
Jio topped the charts to record an average download speed of 20.9Mbps on its 4G network in February. It is more than twice the speed of Bharti Airtel which recorded 9.4Mbps to take the second spot. Vodafone came third while Idea Cellular stood at fourth position by registering download speeds of 6.7Mbps and 5.7Mbps respectively.
Vodafone offered the fastest upload speed
Vodafone topped the charts in terms of 4G upload speeds. As per the TRAI report, the telco registered an average upload speed of 6.0Mbps in the month of February. Idea Cellular, which came second, recorded an upload speed of 5.6Mbps. Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel held the third and fourth spots with an upload speed of 4.5Mbps and 3.7Mbps, respectively.
How has TRAI computed the results?
The average download and upload speeds have been computed by TRAI based on the real-time data it collects from the 'MySpeed' application. The MySpeed app, available for both Android and iOS, shows users' data speeds and coverage provided by various telecom operators in India.
Which states enjoy best 4G speed in India?
According to TRAI's MySpeed Crowdsource Data Analytics, Reliance Jio offered an average peak download of 34.4Mbps in Bihar. Airtel's top download speed of 13.5Mbps was available in Andhra Pradesh while Vodafone offered a top speed of 13.7Mbps in Orissa. Idea Cellular's best download speed of 19.1Mbps was available in Assam.
