Jawa, Jawa 42 waiting period extends upto ten months
Jawa Motorcycles has recently started the deliveries of Jawa and Jawa 42 bikes in India. Launched in November 2018, there has been unprecedented hype around these bikes since then. And now, the company has suspended their online bookings for an entire year to meet the lofty production goals. Here are the details.
What's the reason for suspension?
Interestingly, Jawa had a cult following in the Indian market till early 90s. But after the introduction of Japanese motorcycles, the company could not face the competition and eventually shut its production in 1996. However, it made a comeback in the country by launching three new motorcycles in November 2018. And ever since their launch, Jawa and Jawa 42 have received an overwhelming response.
And, for how long will you have to wait?
To note, the company has suspended the online bookings of both the bikes for a year. Even if you had already booked one of the two motorcycles, you would still have to wait for upto ten months to get them delivered. In India, Mumbai and Kolkata have the shortest waiting period of seven months, while Pune has the longest waiting period of ten months.
Meanwhile, here's recalling Jawa and Jawa 42
To recall, the standard Jawa looks similar to its classic sibling. The motorcycle comes with rounded headlamps and mudguards, a chrome-finished fuel tank, dual-exhausts, and an analog instrument console. On the other hand, Jawa 42 gets a new-age design with a modern touch in the form of a new digital-analog instrument console, smaller headlights, and a bunch of fresh color options.
Jawa, Jawa 42: Power and performance
Both the motorcycles are powered by the same short stroke, liquid-cooled 293cc engine which is mated to a six-speed manual transmission and churns out 27bhp of maximum power and 28Nm of peak torque. Moreover, the bikes offer a mileage of 37.5kmpl, a top speed of 121kmph and can accelerate from 0 to 100kmph in just 13.5 seconds.
Jawa and Jawa 42: On the road
On the safety front, both the Jawa motorcycles house disc brakes on the front and drum brakes on rear wheels along with single/dual-channel ABS for better road handling. For suspension duties, the motorcycles sport telescopic hydraulic forks on the front side and a Gas Canister - Twin shock hydraulic suspension on the rear.
And, what about pricing?
The dual-channel ABS variants of Jawa and Jawa 42 are priced at Rs. 1.73 lakh and Rs. 1.64 lakh, respectively (all prices, ex-showroom). On the other hand, the single-channel ABS models of standard Jawa and Jawa 42 are available at Rs. 1.64 lakh and Rs. 1.55 lakh, respectively (all prices, ex-showroom).
