Narayana Murthy's 5-month-old grandson to receive ₹4cr from Infosys dividend
Ekagrah Rohan Murty, the five-month-old grandson of billionaire Narayana Murthy, is set to receive a dividend income of ₹4.2 crore from his stake in Infosys. The infant's fortune began when he was gifted 15 lakh shares, representing a 0.04% stake in the Bengaluru-based tech giant, by his grandfather last month. Currently valued at ₹210 crore, these shares are expected to yield substantial dividends following Infosys's recent Q4 results announcement.
Infosys announces dividend payment schedule
Infosys has declared a total dividend of ₹28 per share, including a final dividend of ₹20 and an additional special dividend of ₹8. The payment date for these dividends is set for May 31, with the actual disbursement scheduled for July 1. As Ekagrah is not expected to sell his shares in the near future, he qualifies to receive this significant dividend income.
Ekagrah is the youngest Infosys stakeholder
Born on November 10 last year in Bengaluru, Ekagrah is the son of Rohan Murty and Aparna Krishnan. His father, a Harvard University PhD holder in computer science, runs Soroco, a Boston-based software firm. His mother leads Murty Media. Ekagrah is the third grandchild of Narayana and Sudha Murthy, who recently became a Rajya Sabha MP.
Rohan holds around 1.6% stake in Infosys
As of the end of last year's December quarter, Ekagrah's relatives also held significant stakes in Infosys. His aunt, Akshata Murty—the wife of UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak—owned a 1.05% stake. His grandmother Sudha had a 0.93% stake, and his father Rohan held a 1.64% stake in the company. Narayana co-founded Infosys in 1981 with six other individuals. All co-founders, except for Ashok Arora, who left the company in 1989 to move to the US, are now billionaires.
