IndiGo parent expands hospitality business with Miiro hotels in Europe
InterGlobe Enterprises, a significant stakeholder in IndiGo airline, has expanded its hospitality division into Europe with the launch of boutique lifestyle hotels, Miiro. The company has already opened Le Grand Hotel Carye in Paris and Borneta in Barcelona. Over the next few years, it plans to establish more properties across Europe. Neena Gupta, CEO of Miiro, confirmed these developments while outlining the brand's future expansion strategy to PTI.
Miiro's upcoming launches in London and Vienna
Miiro is set to continue its expansion with new launches in London and Vienna, scheduled for 2025. The London property, Templeton Garden, will be located in the scenic area of Earl's Court. It will feature 156 rooms and offer amenities such as a cafe-deli, neighborhood restaurant, vibrant bar, and an outdoor food & beverage experience within a spacious garden oasis.
Two strategically located hotels in Vienna
Following the London launch, Miiro plans to open two strategically located hotels in Vienna. These properties will collectively offer over 200 rooms. The brand has further openings planned for 2026, indicating a significant expansion of its footprint. Gupta emphasized that each Miiro property is unique and reflects its specific location, inspired by the surrounding neighborhood, community, and local architectural style.
InterGlobe's hospitality division offers 7,000 rooms
InterGlobe, the largest shareholder in Mumbai-listed IndiGo, also operates a hospitality division with hotels both in India and abroad. Its partnership with French hospitality group Accor covers roughly 7,000 rooms across 30 hotels in India. Miiro is a wholly owned subsidiary of InterGlobe.
Miiro: A boutique lifestyle hotel for self-assured travelers
Miiro, derived from the Latin word 'miro' meaning 'I wonder,' is a boutique lifestyle hotel brand aimed at "self-assured travelers." The brand strives to combine homely comfort with modern amenities in city centers. This approach allows travelers to experience life as locals do. Gupta stated that the venture's goal was "to purchase high-yield assets in iconic locations" and transform them into lifestyle properties.
InterGlobe's acquisition strategy and future plans
Since 2018, InterGlobe has acquired 13 hotel properties in cities such as London, Barcelona, Vienna, Paris, Hamburg, Gstaad, Munich, Amsterdam, Prague and Budapest. Three of these have been converted into Miiro properties. Gupta highlighted that location and iconic buildings are crucial to their acquisition strategy. She also hinted at potential expansions in Italy's Milan or Florence as part of their future plans.
