Amid lockdown, ICICI launches WhatsApp banking service: How to use
With an aim to offer easy banking solutions to its customers during the ongoing lockdown in India, ICICI Bank has launched a WhatsApp banking feature. As the name suggests, the feature will let you avail banking services like checking account balance, transaction history, as well as blocking/unblocking cards by just entering keywords on your WhatsApp chat. Here's how to get started.
ICICI's WhatsApp banking service is available in English and Hindi
The ICICI Bank's WhatsApp banking service aims to discourage customers from visiting a branch by offering an alternative solution to some of the regular banking functions. The 24-hour service works through a dedicated phone number and helps users avail a host of services by using simple keywords. Notably, the service is currently available in English as well as Hindi.
How to get started
First, save the ICICI WhatsApp banking number on your phone (9324953001 for English; 9324953010 for Hindi). Then, just send any text (like "Hi") and the bank's automated response system will enlist all the available services along with the keywords and corresponding numbers. You can simply reply with the highlighted keyword (like Balance or History) or the relevant option number (like 1, 2, or 3).
Here's a look at the services available right now
ICICI's WhatsApp banking service currently offers five main services. The Banking Services option lets you check account balance, transaction history, and credit card limit while Block/Unlock option allows you to block your card. There is also an option to avail instant loans, to look for offers related to dining and shopping, and other services category that helps you find nearby ATM locations, among others.
Points to consider
In case you avail netbanking services, make sure you use this service with the same phone number that is registered with your ICICI Bank account. Moreover, all these facilities can also be availed through ICICI Bank's iMobile application available on Play Store and App Store.
