IBM to collaborate with Indian developers on AI, machine learning
Technology trends like Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and Internet of Things have been gaining momentum for some time now. Tech players are taking keen interest in these core areas and IBM doesn't want to be left behind. It aims to collaborate with Indian developers and conduct road-shows to help them improve their skills in these areas. Know more about IBM's plans!
Organizing roadshows in three Indian cities
Seema Kumar, IBM India/South Asia Country Leader Developer Ecosystem and Startups, said they are working with developers from across the globe. As part of efforts to hone the tech skills of developers, IBM is organizing roadshows in India in Mumbai, Bengaluru and Hyderabad between 28 June-1 July. Kumar said developers will be provided with relevant tools, mentorship, and guidance for projects.

"From India's perspective, we think it is the right time for developers to work on technology areas like AI, ML, data science and we want to help them in their journey. We hope to reach out to hundreds of developers in these cities."
Using technology, developers can solve problems
Kumar said with the best cognitive and cloud technologies, IBM wants to empower developers "to innovate and build next-gen start-ups and enterprises." She added using IBM technology like Watson, developers can provide solutions to solve problems not only in IT but also in other communities. Watson, the "question answering" supercomputer, can understand natural language, analyze data, and help in making decisions.
About IBM's Watson
Watson was developed in DeepQA project by David Ferrucci-led team in 2010; it won the quiz show Jeopardy in 2011. It is named after IBM's Founder and first CEO, Thomas Watson. It is used for several purposes, including cancer treatment. At India's Manipal Hospital, Watson is assisting doctors in making decisions about cancer care and treatment using its previous knowledge about such cases.
India to become the world's largest developer hub
India will reportedly have the largest developer base of the world by 2020. It is estimated that, more than three million programmers in India would alone develop 10% of all the apps by 2017-end. Google said India overtook the US in 2016 to become the largest developer hub in terms of the number of people interested in mobile developer courses.
Start-ups in India: Catalysts for technology innovation, collaboration
Nipun Mehrotra, IBM India-SA Chief Digital Officer, stated: "The Indian start-up community; ranked third globally in terms of number of start-ups has been creating new job opportunities and attracting capital investment. These require investments in deep technology and products which are built to scale globally."
