#FinancialBytes: Know how to check your ITR status online
Once the filing and verification of your I-T return is done, you can keep track of the status of your return. The 'Acknowledgement number' assigned to you will be helpful in checking your ITR status. There are two ways to check your I-T return status. Here, we decode both the methods.
Check ITR status without having to login
First off, go to the I-T department's online portal at www.incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in Then, click on 'ITR status' option given on the left side of the page. A new page will be opened, wherein you'll have to enter your PAN (Permanent account number), acknowledgement number, and a system-generated captcha security code. Click on 'Submit' button, and your ITR status will flash on screen.
Check ITR status using your login details
Login to the I-T department's online portal (given above) with your login details ie. your 'Used Id' and 'Password'. On the dashboard, click on 'View Returns/Forms' option. Now, on the new page, enter your PAN, and click on 'Select an option'. Select 'Income Tax Returns' and then 'submit'. Your ITR status will be displayed to you.
