Reliance Jio Fiber v/s Competitors: Broadband speed, data plans, price
After a stellar run with its mobile services, Mukesh Ambani-led Reliance Jio looks primed to disrupt the broadband market in India. The telecom giant has launched its fiber-to-the-home service, Jio Fiber, revealing details regarding broadband speed, data plans, and pricing. The company has also confirmed that the service will roll out commercially starting September 5. But how does Jio Fiber compare with its competitors?
What do you get with Reliance Jio Fiber?
The base plan promising 100Mbps of speed will be available at Rs. 700/month, while the top-end plan with 1Gbps speed and access to Jio HomeTV as well as Jio's IoT products will cost Rs. 10,000/month. Subscribers will also get unlimited free voice calling benefits. Further, customers opting for Jio Forever plan will get an HD/4K LED TV and a 4K set-top box for free.
Here's a look at the benefits of Airtel V-Fiber
Airtel's V-Fiber is the biggest competitor of Reliance's Jio Fiber in the Indian market. The FTTH service offers download speeds of upto 300Mbps and upto 600GB of high-speed data, depending on the monthly plan which can range from Rs. 799 to Rs. 1,999. The telco also offers a high-speed unlimited plan but it is available in select regions only.
BSNL Bharat Fiber: Broadband speed, internet data, and plans
Then, we have BSNL, which offers a bunch of plans via its Bharat Fiber service ranging from Rs. 777 to Rs. 16,999 per month. The entry-level plan offers upto 50Mbps speed and 500GB of data benefit while the top-tier plan promises upto 100Mbps broadband speed and 170GB of data per day (upto 10Mbps speed post the data limit). Here's a look at the offerings from ACT Fibernet
ACT Fibernet is regarded as India's largest fiber-focused wired broadband provider in terms of the number of subscribers. Depending on the region, the plans start at Rs. 685 for the ACT Swift and go upto Rs. 5,999 for the top-end ACT GIGA. The entry-level plan offers 100GB data and 15Mbps of speed while the GIGA plan comes with 1Gbps speed and 2,500GB of data.
What about Tata Sky Broadband and Spectra?
Separately, Tata Sky Broadband has recently updated its plans to offer unlimited data access to its subscribers at upto 100Mbps of speed. However, the availability of plans varies from region to region. Lastly, Spectra offers upto 1Gbps speed and 500GB data for Rs. 885/month. Moreover, if you subscribe to half-yearly or annual plans, you will not have to pay any installation or security charges.
