On March 7, Honda is set to launch the next-generation of Civic, its premium sedan, in the Indian market. The car makes a major upgrade over the previous version and is expected to take on Skoda Octavia, Toyota Corolla, and Hyundai Elantra with a fancier look and more power. Its price has not been confirmed, but the bookings have already been opened. Here's more.
Next-generation Civic to offer bolder design
The new Civic, which will be the 10th generation of the legendary Sedan, will come with chrome-grille, angular bumpers, and all-LED headlamps. It looks taller than the previous versions and comes equipped with C-shaped LED taillights, electric sunroof, 18-inch alloy wheels with discs (both on front and back), and a fastback roofline that merges into the boot. Overall, it looks way fancier than before.
What comes under the hood?
Under the hood, 2019 Honda Civic will be available in two engine options: a 1.8-liter four-cylinder petrol motor mated with CVT and 1.6-liter i-DTEC diesel unit with 6-speed manual transmission. The petrol motor is tuned to produce 141 PS of power @6500 rpm and 174 Nm of torque @4300 rpm, while the diesel engine makes 120PS @4000 rpm and 300Nm @2000 rpm.
Diesel engine to offer way better mileage
As per reports, the diesel engine variant of the new Civic is rated to offer a mileage of 26.8Km/liter, while the petrol motor promises to deliver 16.5Km/liter.
Pricing and availability
Though the exact price will be revealed on March 7, automobile enthusiasts expect the new Civic to be priced somewhere around Rs. 18-24 lakh. However, the bookings for the Sedan have already been opened and you can place your order at any Honda-authorized dealership by paying a token amount of Rs. 31,000. Online booking option is not available.
