Godrej family splits 127-year-old conglomerate: Know who gets what
The influential Godrej family has announced a significant restructuring of their shareholding within the group. The new arrangement, revealed to stock exchanges, positions Jamshyd Godrej and his niece Nyrika Holkar at the helm of the Godrej Enterprises Group (GEG). This group includes Godrej & Boyce and its various industry affiliates, marking a substantial shift in control.
Nadir Godrej to chair Godrej Industries Group
Nadir Godrej will assume the role of chairperson for the Godrej Industries Group (GIG). This group encompasses Godrej Industries, Godrej Consumer Products, Godrej Properties, Godrej Agrovet, and Astec Lifesciences. The reins of GIG will be held by Adi Godrej and Nadir along with their immediate families. Pirojsha Godrej is set to become the executive vice chairperson of Godrej Industries in August 2026.
Godrej Group's land bank impacted by restructuring
The restructuring was carried out with an aim to "enhance strategic direction, focus, agility, and expedite the generation of long-term value for shareholders and all stakeholders," according to the company. The restructuring also affects the family's land bank of over 3,400 acres. Both Godrej & Boyce and Godrej Properties have agreed to continue their collaboration for the development of land in Vikhroli, a suburb of Mumbai.
