Flipkart to soon launch Nokia-branded smart TVs in India
Flipkart has partnered with Nokia to launch the Finnish tech giant's smart TVs in India. As part of the deal, the Walmart-owned e-commerce giant will not only distribute Nokia-branded smart TVs but also manufacture them in the country. Notably, this is Flipkart's second such partnership after it joined hands with Motorola to launch Android TVs for the Chinese brand.
Flipkart to leverage its understanding of consumers' buying habits
Evidently, Flipkart will leverage its understanding of consumers' buying habits to determine the features to design/build Nokia smart TVs. In a statement, the e-commerce giant said that it is "leveraging the increasing prevalence of online shopping in metros, Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities, combined with the vast amount of consumer insights and feedback, to strengthen its presence in this segment."
Nokia TVs to come with JBL-powered audio systems.
Flipkart has partnered with Harman to use JBL sound technology for the upcoming Nokia smart TVs. The retail giant has claimed that it is the first time JBL's audio technology will feature in a television.
What else do we expect from Nokia TVs?
At present, details about the upcoming Nokia TVs are scarce. However, going by the industry trend, we expect these televisions to offer up to 4K resolution and support for the latest connectivity options. The devices are also likely to run on Android TV OS, meaning they will support downloadable apps and games from Play Store, as well as support Chromecast and Google Assistant.
When will Nokia TVs launch?
Nokia TVs are set to make a global debut in India but we don't know when that will happen. Perhaps, Flipkart could bring them before the year-end sales. Meanwhile, we expect to see more teasers and reveals over the coming weeks.
