Flipkart opens new consolidated office space in Bengaluru
Flipkart has opened a new office space in Embassy Tech Village, Bengaluru, which is a consolidation of all of its previous 11 campuses in the city. The launch was attended by founders Binny Bansal and Sachin Bansal, and CEO Kalyan Krishnamurthy along with the entire Flipkart team. A unicorn valued at $11.6 billion, Flipkart has completed 10 years of being in business.
New "European Town" campus has area of 8.3L square feet
The largest office space of the company so far, the new campus is spread across an area of 8.3 lakh square feet. It features three unique looking buildings with 30 floors and a seating capacity of over 7,300 people. The space has been designed as a "European Town" with "internal pathways which are pedestrian-friendly" so that the employees have sufficient space to walk around.
Flipkart has gym, daycare, laundromat, VR games
The office space offers facilities like food court, gym, daycare, indoor and outdoor recreational and entertainment spaces (VR games, golf simulator, human foosball, rock climbing), relax rooms, laundromat, and internal landscapes. There are improved meeting room ratios, Quiet Zones, and inter-connected bridges between the buildings. The news office also provides a better connect with the warehousing and logistics part of the business.
Contemporary design meets efficiency, functionality
Flipkart's five brand colors have been used as design elements on the floor and several other aspects of the campus. The wall graphics and the meeting rooms' names are based on the theme of "Meet Me on The Flip Side." The campus claims to be managing waste by doing away with individual dustbins and deploying waste segregation at source.
Before this Flipkart operated from 11 different offices
A company spokesperson said that the first move towards a consolidated office space was made in 2015. Before this, Flipkart operated from 11 offices that occupied an area of 6 lakh square feet. The multiple offices resulted in variable commute times for different teams. Now with everyone converging to a single location, Flipkart expects enhanced synergy, leadership accessibility, and overall ease of doing business.
