Flipkart Health+ app launched: How to order medicines
Flipkart has announced Health+ app, a new tech-based platform that offers medicines as well as healthcare products and services. The company aims to provide the service in over 20,000 pin codes across the country. It has partnered with online pharmacy SastaSundar.com. The app is currently live on the Google Play Store and will be available for iOS devices in the coming days.
Why does this story matter?
Health+ is Flipkart's answer to established online pharmacies such as PharmEasy and Tata 1mg. However, what Health+ has and what others don't is Flipkart Group's reach and supply-chain capabilities. With the harsh wake-up call provided by the pandemic, Indians have become more concerned about their wellness than ever before. Therefore, for Flipkart, the time can't get any better than this to enter the race.
What is Flipkart Health+?
Flipkart Health+ will act as an intermediary marketplace with over 500 independent sellers who have a network of registered pharmacists for validation of medical prescriptions and accurate dispensation of medicines. Users across 20,000 pin codes can order medicines and healthcare products through the app. It also has healthcare-related content. The company aims to add other services like teleconsultation and e-diagnostics in the future.
'We aim to solve critical gap of accessibility to medicines'
Flipkart Health+ aims to provide easy and convenient access to affordable and quality medicine. Prashant Jhaveri, CEO of Flipkart Health+ said, "We want to leverage technology in a way that strengthens the healthcare ecosystem and enables it to serve customers better by making accessibility to healthcare simpler even for those residing in distant areas of the country and contributing toward a healthier India."
How to order medicines via Health+ app?
You can order medicine from Health+ either directly or by uploading a prescription. The app will automatically select the medicines if you upload a prescription. To order certain medicines, you will require a valid prescription. Once ordered, the items will be delivered to the user. The company isn't charging a delivery fee at the moment but may charge Rs. 50 in the future.
