IIT-Bombay graduate Rajesh Subramaniam named FedEx President, CEO
Rajesh Subramaniam, an Indian-American IIT-Bombay graduate, has been named the President and CEO of US-based multinational courier delivery giant FedEx Express. Subramaniam, who currently holds the posts of Executive Vice President and Chief Communications and Marketing Officer at FedEx Corporation, will take up his new responsibilities from January 1, 2019. Rajesh Subramaniam's educational background
Subramaniam, who hails from Thiruvananthapuram, earned his B.Tech in Chemical Engineering from IIT-Bombay in 1987. He then went on to pursue a Master of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from Syracuse University, and completed his MBA in Marketing/Finance from the University of Texas in Austin in 1991. Subsequently, he joined FedEx in Memphis, and steadily climbed the ranks.
Subramaniam has been with FedEx for 27 years
In his 27+ years at FedEx, Subramaniam held several important executive posts. In 1996, he moved to Hong Kong as Vice President of Marketing for FedEx Express, and oversaw marketing and customer service for the Asia Pacific region. In 2003, he was named the Regional President of FedEx Express, Canada, before moving back to the US as Senior Vice President of FedEx Services.
Subramaniam was given increasingly important roles over the years
In 2013, Subramaniam was named as the Executive Vice President of Marketing and Communications at FedEx Services, and oversaw the company's international operations. Then, in 2017, he was named as the Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing and Communications Officer of FedEx Corporation - a post he has held until now. In January 2019, he will replace David L Cunningham as President and CEO.
