Former Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Governor Shaktikanta Das has been appointed as Principal Secretary 2 to Narendra Modi, the Prime Minister of India.
His term will be co-terminus with that of the Prime Minister or until further orders are issued.
This was confirmed by an Appointments Committee of Cabinet (ACC) order today.

Das, who hails from Odisha's capital Bhubhaneshwar, is a 1980 batch retired Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of Tamil Nadu cadre.
He took charge as the 25th Governor of the Reserve Bank of India effective December 12, 2018. Das's tenure ended on December 10, 2024, handing over the reins to former Revenue Secretary Sanjay Malhotra (IAS, 1990).
Das is a postgraduate from St. Stephen's College, Delhi University.
