Apparently, OnePlus trimmed 6T's bezels for an ad: Details here
From design to performance, OnePlus 6T checks all boxes for an amazing flagship. It has got a fancy waterdrop notch, in-display fingerprint scanner and a lot to play with. But, despite that, it seems that the Chinese giant is unsure of the flagship killer, which is probably why it resorted to trim its bezels to make it fancier for an advert. Here's what happened.
Ad shows OnePlus 6T with no chin
If you've been keeping a tab on OnePlus 6T, you should know that the phone comes with a chin, which is not that big but definitely noticeable. However, in a recent advert, which is circulating on Twitter and Instagram, the chin of the phone was entirely removed from the bottom, Android Police reported. Plus, the black around the waterdrop notch also appears reduced.
Here's a glimpse of the altered OnePlus 6T
But, why to go for such tactics?
OnePlus has not commented on the matter, but it seems that someone in its marketing team decided to accept a slightly modified appearance of the phone for the sake of promoting it. These days, thinner bezels and smaller notches are smartphone trends and OnePlus seems to be moving in that direction by not just giving these elements, but also by making them fancier.
And, it is not the only company to do this
And, it is worth noting that OnePlus isn't the only company doing this. Lenovo, another Chinese giant, opted these tactics for its Z5 smartphone, which made huge headlines because of design alterations. The phone's teaser showed notch-less display and thin bezels, but when it was rolled out, the borders were large and there was a notch.
OnePlus's case isn't that severe, but still it's bad
It is imperative to mention that the official images of OnePlus 6T show the chin and notch just as they look in real life. Hence, people would eventually realize that the phone looks a tad different than what the ad shows.
